This information is to help clients prepare the subgrade and place the underground piping correctly. This information should also be reviewed by design engineers during the design stage of a reservoir project.
- Make sure that you have the proper base dimensions. Feel free to call our office to confirm those numbers.
- Clear the site of all vegetation and topsoil well beyond the outside of the tank base.
- 3. Mark the center point for the reservoir.
- Install piping per the civil drawings also referencing the drawing above.
- Install a top layer of crushed rock level to within an inch to at least 1? beyond the outside edge of the base.
- Test crushed rock for compaction to 95% using approved testing lab per county requirements.
The labeled pipe sizes below are recommendations. Pipes should be sized according to the needs of your individual system.
4” minimum sized drain line is recommended for cleaning out the tank.
4” inlet will be connected to and run up the inside of the wall to roof level by Baker Silo.
6” outlet line will be cut off 6” above finished floor unless otherwise specified and should be set 3’ – 5’ inside wall.
Check the drawings or call to determine the thickness of your tank base. All pipes should stick up out of the ground a minimum of 12” beyond the top of the base.
During construction, the crew from Baker Silo will cut drain to height of finished floor.
All pipes should be class 52 ductile iron pipe with mega lug joints and a gate valve approx. 5’ outside the base.
